Established in 1993 with the goal of recycling used tires into value-added products for residential and commercial applications.
Up until 2023 (when the provincial recycling program was awarded to a US company), Shercom had recycled over 50 million pounds of used tires per year. And although we no longer process used tires that way, we are still at the forefront of rubber recycling technology through innovative tools, technologies, and processes in the recycled rubber products we design.
We are dedicated to finding new and better ways to reclaim, recycle and reuse scrap tires as the base for innovative, eco-friendly products. Our efforts keep millions of pounds of material out of landfills, contributing to the well-being of our communities and the long-term health of our planet.
In 1993 Shercom started out with two men and a vision. Today that vision has evolved into a growing sustainable recycling and manufacturing facility that leads the way in the rubber surfacing and products industry.
Shercom was founded in 1993. The mission was to create a product that benefitted both their customers, and the environment.
We installed our very first rubber surface product: The Paved Driveway
In 2000, we began shredding tires. This took our business to a whole new level which allowed us to expand and innovate in many industries.
In 2003, we added a crumb line to our manufacturing process, enabling us to make our very own material for rubber paving.
In 2020, we entered into a partnership with Playtop / Nike Grind. This has allowed us to create even better products for our growing customer base.
As the winner of two SABEX awards in 2020, Shercom is recognized as a world leader not only in recycling, but community involvement and support. Through innovation, environmental commitment, and their dedication to the people of Saskatchewan, this locally owned company is at the forefront of recycling technology.
All of Shercom’s products go through rigorous testing, ensuring each product you use is of the highest quality. Now an exclusive partner with Playtop using Nike recycled shoes in Canada, they are creating exciting, colourful sports, pool and playground surfaces that encompass inclusivity for all ages. We have been in the business of collecting (ending in 2023), processing, and re-manufacturing used tires since 1993.
The SHERSAFE® grant program is Shercom's newest program to support community engagement. It is open to eligible communities that need to upgrade their current playgrounds to conform to CSA standards for fall attenuation and impact protection for children.
